DastyarOperations for everyday business

Keep spare parts traceable from receipt to the job

A small inventory routine that reduces duplicate purchases and unexplained stock differences.

Give each part one identity

Create a consistent code and description before buying more stock. Include the details that make parts interchangeable: size, rating, model or compatible equipment. Record the storage location and purchasing unit. Two descriptions for the same item make a stock balance look more certain than it is.

Record each movement where it happens

A receipt increases stock; an issue moves it to a job or project; a return brings unused stock back. Record quantity, date, responsible person and reference. Keep a damaged item or count correction distinct from ordinary consumption so the difference can be investigated.

Count a little, regularly

Start cycle counts with expensive, critical or frequently used items. Count before looking at the expected balance when possible. Investigate a difference using recent receipts, issues and returns. Correct the record with a documented adjustment rather than editing the opening quantity to hide the cause.

Set useful purchasing thresholds

Review average demand and supplier lead time. Keep a buffer appropriate to the cost of a stockout. A slow-moving critical component may deserve a different rule from an inexpensive consumable. Do not treat an arbitrary minimum as a demand forecast.

Connect stock to the real work

In Dastyar, use the relevant service or project inventory record and keep units consistent. The physical location, usable condition and recorded quantity all matter. A dashboard cannot establish that a spare is serviceable; inspect it and investigate persistent differences.
